Apparently no one in right Wing Catholicism watches TV or reads Entertainment Weekly.
This endorsement appears on Bill Donahue's (check the link if you don't know who he is) new book.
Wonkette reports:
Oh please look at the tragic press release for Bill Donohue’s new-ish book, Secular Sabotage. Not one person—not a single graphic design intern, or PR guy, or someone at the publisher’s office—had any objection to including this blurb. Chilling. (Thank you to Wonkette Informant “Dan T.”)
Michelle Bachmann's Tea Bag Brigaid is visiting the Us Capital as we speak
Wonkette explains the photo:
A second-degree operative sends this photo and writes, “My cousin is a congressional staffer, I got sent this picture outside the capitol building today…” So we know that THE TRUTH TRUCK is in town for the Super Bowl of Retardation, and now it is barreling down the halls of Rayburn, crushin’ skulls
Like the First Wednesday oflast November we will be at a Tax seminar tomorrow. So GT12 takes time today to re-post some of our early November 2008 Campaign posts.
Historical Note: some of the posts include a snarky dig at one McCain campaign hack's claim that JonnyMac's work was responsible for the development of smart phones (don't ask me how).
Saturday, November 1:
Reporting In Mr. Dan and I are knocking on doors in Indianapolis. We are in a heavy Obama area and focusing on Get Out The Vote. There is serious Obama-mania in this part of this red state.
Know Hope
Tomorrow, you can turn the page on policies that have put the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street.
Tomorrow, you can choose policies that invest in our middle-class, create new jobs, and grow this economy so that everyone has a chance to succeed; from the CEO to the secretary and the janitor; from the factory owner to the men and women who work on its floor
Tomorrow, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election; that tries to pit region against region, city against town, Republican against Democrat; that asks us to fear at a time when we need hope.
Tomorrow, at this defining moment in history, you can give this country the change we need.
My grandmother voted today. She is 86 years old. A white woman born to hardscrabble cattle ranchers in the most desolate part of New Mexico. Our ancestry goes back through West and East Texas, through Tennessee, the Cumberland Gap, and Virginia. This side of the family rode in the Texas 2nd Cavalry during the Civil War. A dark reminder for me of my family's past, she still has receipts for slaves that our family owned. Her first husband was killed in the Battle of the Bulge, sacrificing his life like so many other young men. My mother was two months old at the time. My grandmother has voted Republican her entire life, but today she voted for Barack Obama.
4.5 hours after going to bed, Iam up again, getting ready for an all-day Tax Seminar. So this is going to have to do as my election reflection until tomorrow...
How great is this?!
How great is this country?!
Pretty damn great, that's what.
The rally, btw, was run as well as anything I've evr seen in Chicago. Getting to and from the site was easier than going to Taste of Chicago.
Some notes:
- The last Republican Representative to the house from New England lost his seat last night. When I was growing up 'New England' was what we thought of when we thought of 'Republican'.
- Christianist Marylin Musgrave defeated in CO.
- Al Franken still not a Senator (yet) but his opponent hasn't won (yet)
- IN, where GT12 spent last weekend goes blue.
- BHO first Dem since LBJ to win Presidency with a majority of all votes cast
NEW YORK - HBO has bought the U.S. rights to a behind-the-scenes documentary on Barack Obama's presidential campaign from actor Edward Norton's production company.
Filming will continue through the president-elect's inauguration, with the premiere expected sometime in the spring, the network said Friday. HBO reportedly paid at least $1 million to show the still-untitled film.
For the first time in my life I see the America that I was raised to believe in.
I tell myself that this is not really enough, that he still has to be President, he still has to do the job. but right now my heart says that my country is saved and that the people of my country saved it by voting for this man.
We chose Wisdom over Reaction, Accomplishment over Aristocracy, The ethnicity that we are over the ethnicity that we were, What we need over what we know, Our dreams over our nightmares, United States over Red and Blue States.
GT12 stumbled upon Newsalert, which promises to be:

No mention of Bill Ayres? Obama-Chicago Machine. Now that's rich... and ignorant of Chicago politics.
Last night, Roseanne Cash promoted the cause on The Colbert Report, where she successfully got the host to sign a petition calling for the closing of the prison at Guantanamo Bay. Watch it:
Though Levi Johnston's svengali Tank Jonestold us last week that he was "90% sure" Levi would bare all for Playgirl, he has officially removed that pesky 10% uncertainty. Levi will be going, um, whole hog for his upcoming shoot.
While Tank had told us on more than one occasion that Levi would decide how naked he would get only on the day of the shoot, today Tank told TMZ, "Everything's gonna hang out. We're talking full johnson." We're gonna hold you to that, Tank, even though both sides have told us there is no stipulation in the contract about how much skin he will show.
How To Help In Maine Want to spend a few hours - wherever you are in the US - calling voters in Maine to protect marriage equality? It's as effective as any donation. The details for how to help are here. It couldn't be easier. What are you doing this weekend?
Why is this important? Because it works. Again from Andrew:
The Wages Of Misinformation
A reader writes:
This Sunday, I volunteered with Equality California and the No On 1 Campaign to make calls to Maine residents to inform them about the measure and urge them to vote (No) early if they can. There was one call in particular that I thought was interesting. I introduced myself by explaining that I volunteered for the campaign to vote No on Question 1 and the first thing the lady said to me was “look, I don’t think this stuff should be taught to 1st graders.”
Not knowing what kind of ads the opposition had been running, I assured her that the purpose of the call was only to inform her that the measure intends to overturn an equality law that is already in place. I told her that I personally feel it should be up to the parents to talk to their kids about sexuality, and that the law has no bearing on the school system, that the law is about marriage equality and nothing else. Next thing she says is, “well yeah, I think anyone should be allowed to marry the person they love. If they’re in love, who am I to say to them that they can’t marry, right?”
So this was someone who believed in marriage equality but was being harassed by those insidious ads into possibly voting against her own instincts. I hope that I’ve convinced one person not to pay any mind to them, but I do hope that others realize what the real issue at stake here is.
Rule 1: Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do.
Rule 2: Never go outside the experience of your people. The result is confusion, fear, and retreat.
Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.
Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”
Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.
Rule 6: A good tactic is one your people enjoy. “If your people aren’t having a ball doing it, there is something very wrong with the tactic.”
Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues.
Rule 8: Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this that will cause the opposition to react to your advantage.”
Rule 9: The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself. When Alinsky leaked word that large numbers of poor people were going to tie up the washrooms of O’Hare Airport, Chicago city authorities quickly agreed to act on a longstanding commitment to a ghetto organization. They imagined the mayhem as thousands of passengers poured off airplanes to discover every washroom occupied. Then they imagined the international embarrassment and the damage to the city’s reputation.
Rule 10: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Avoid being trapped by an opponent or an interviewer who says, “Okay, what would you do?”
Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.
