OK, It's been a few days since the much hyped chance for Barry O to slap down HRC (Her Royal Clintoness). And I was left cold by his salvos. Edwards, Biden, hell, everybody else showed how to do it. I can see Rudy eating his lunch and then making Obama explain how that was OK. We are going to need to show some showy strength next fall to counteract The Reps Forceful and Carefree Lying.
Now, Sullivan reports that maybe this view of Obama's performance is that of a too thoughtful, too educated fan (with video support) but we'll see. I do think that his post debate polling always looks better than I anticipate.
Perhaps this statement yesterday will help him:
"After the most secretive administration in memory, an administration that consistently misled the American people, we need a president who is going to be open and forthright. I think [the Philadelphia] debate really exposed this fault line. Senator Clinton left us wondering where she stood on every single hard question from Iran to Social Security to drivers' licenses for undocumented workers... Her big answer on whether she would release the papers from her White House years was particularly troubling because she is running on her record as first lady as much as on her record as a senator. How can people fully judge that record if the documents from those years remain locked away?" - Barack Obama, turning up the heat at last.
And, Clinton is acting scared, playing the victim card (Six guys against one girl") and shifting more resources to Iowa.
If Obama stops her, can he stop Rudy? He needs to get back in touch with his southside organizing past. Maybe re-read Saul Alinsky.
