China Report

A great friend of GT12, Mr TLW, has been living in China for the last year. Right now Mr T is visiting the homeland for a short period - he feels much the same about the Olympics invading his turf as GT12 does here (Rio '16!). He is keeping a blog which you should definitely check out.

We caught up with T yesterday at a cookout given in his honor. We had many questions. We got some answers.

There are gay bars in China.

They're not illegal.

Mr TLW, at about 5'8", is a giant among men.

The Food Service industry is not troubled by American ideas of
sanitation. A quick wipe with a cold towel is good wnough.

Bathrooms do not supply toilet paper. You carry your own. (Mr
TLW supplies us an example, shown above)

If you know someone has lied, you must not point it out. this seems
fairly essential in a totalitarian state.

Life in a totalitarian state leads to an atrophying of critical thinking. T reports having learned, like any good China-resident, to just go along with what is told. No Questioning what the news reports etc.

One can only get hash, no pot.

We learned some other stuff too but forgot it as the night went on.
