It was not. It would increase your taxes and even more importantly, raise your employers. Would he want to continue your healthcare if he has to pay an extra 7.65 percent for your benefits? Maybe not. They already cost him too much (from his view).
Well, if McCain's plan goes into effect your benefits ($3,600 - $6,000) will become taxable income to you AND to him.
You will get a $2,500 tax credit to help you pay for a policy that will probably cost a minimum of $3,600 if you are young, single and quite healthy...
